Last March 2013, nineteen-year-old Amina Tyler of Tunisa posted two topless pictures of herself on Facebook. Looking straight at the camera while flipping the bird, her bare chest and stomach has the words, “Fuck your Morals.” The other picture, also naked, reads, “My body belongs to me, and is not the source of anyone’s honor,” in Arabic. Since 2011, Salafists have gained prominence in Tunisia causing secular women to fear the erosion of their freedoms. The Salafi cleric Almi Adel, leader of Tunisia’s Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, called for Tyler to be “punished according to sharia, with eighty to a hundred lashes, but [because of] the severity of the act she has committed, she deserves be stoned to death.” He warned that “her act could bring about an epidemic. It could be contagious and give ideas to other women. It is therefore necessary to isolate [the incident]. I wish her to be healed.” Tunisian media reported that she could be punished by up to two years in prison and a fine of up to a thousand dinars (about six hundred and twenty dollars). Amina was jailed from May to August of 2013. In protest, Femen held Topless Jihad Day on April 4th in which women burned the Jihad flag and chanted “Free Amina” “No Sharia” and “Bare breasts against Islamism” across capital cities and mosques.

Then of course, you have the brainwashed Muslims who think their pious nun-like image represents all that is holy and better than the “Imperialistic” West. It seems more about being against our culture and way of life. A Muslim blogger writes, “Their aim is not to emancipate us from our presumed slavery, but instead reinforce Western imperialism and generate consent for the ongoing wars against Muslim countries.” They totally don’t get it. If the devout Muslim way of life is so great, why the hell did they leave their perfect country to come to the sinful west in the first place? Twits, twats, and imbeciles.
